Robin Mackervoy ROI
Born in Hampshire in October, 1933, Robin started painting at an early age, it became his main subject for study at secondary level and painting out-of-doors formed part of his studies.
After completing his National Service he attained ‘A’ Levels in Painting and History of Art as a mature student at East Hertfordshire College and subsequently helped to form an Art Society locally.
Robin was elected to membership of the Wapping Group of Artists in 1992 and is currently President of the Group.
He had already over twenty years commercial experience with art materials and had been a lecturer of drawing and painting for Hertford Regional College since 1987. His teaching experience includes painting holidays, having tutored with ‘Artscape’ (previously known as Galleon) in various locations.
Robin is Trustee and Past President of the London Sketch Club, President of the Lea Valley Art Society and member of Chelsea and Hertford Art Societies. He has demonstrated painting (still life, flowers, landscapes and portraits) in all mediums to art societies throughout the Home Counties and East Anglia for many years. He was also called upon by the manufacturers of Rembrandt products, of Liquitex Acrylics and of Genesis Heat Set Oils, among others, to demonstrate their products. He has written articles for The ‘Leisure Painter’ and ‘Artist & Illustrator’ Magazines.
He has had two one-man and one two man shows of his work and has undertaken many commissions both landscape and portrait. He has exhibited at the R S M A exhibitions from 1995 and the R O I yearly since 1997. He was awarded ‘The Stanley Grimm Memorial Prize’ at the R O I exhibition of 1999.
Robin was elected to Associate Membership of the R O I in 2006 and to full membership in November 2008.
